Creamy Honey Garlic Marinade – Sweet, Tangy and Irresistible
Préparation
This marinade is incredibly simple to prepare. Just mix, season, and it is ready to use.
- Combine the base ingredients: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the honey, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, and yoghurt (if using). Whisk or stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Add the flavourings: Stir in the finely chopped or grated garlic, apple cider vinegar, paprika, chilli powder (if using), and a generous pinch of salt and pepper.
- Whisk until creamy: Beat the mixture thoroughly until you achieve a smooth, homogeneous, and creamy consistency. Taste and adjust the seasoning according to your preference.
- Use immediately or store: Your marinade is now ready to use. Brush it over chicken, beef, pork, or vegetables and allow them to marinate for at least 30 minutes for the best flavour. It also works perfectly as a dip for fresh vegetables, wings, or wedges.
Chef’s Tips and Variations
This recipe is wonderfully adaptable. Here are a few suggestions to customise it to your taste.
The heat level is entirely up to you. If you prefer a milder marinade, simply omit the chilli powder or reduce it to a pinch. For those who enjoy more spice, feel free to increase the chilli powder or add a dash of cayenne pepper or a finely chopped fresh chilli.
The yoghurt is optional but adds a lovely tang and extra creaminess. If you do not have yoghurt on hand, you can simply use an extra tablespoon of mayonnaise. For a dairy-free version, substitute the yoghurt and mayonnaise with a plant-based alternative.
If you are a garlic lover, feel free to add an extra clove or two. For a milder garlic flavour, reduce the amount or use roasted garlic instead, which has a sweeter, more subtle taste.
For an extra layer of flavour, consider adding a teaspoon of fresh or dried herbs. Thyme, rosemary, or oregano work particularly well and complement both the honey and garlic beautifully.
